Our editorial standards
How we verify professionals, handle reviews and stay independent.
Will Writing Directory is an independent directory, not a law firm, and our value depends entirely on being trustworthy. These standards explain how we verify and present the professionals listed on the site, and how we keep our information honest.
How we verify professionals
Before a practice is shown as verified, we check the details that matter: that the firm or individual is a real, contactable practice, and that any stated regulator or professional membership — such as the SRA, CILEX, STEP, the Institute of Professional Willwriters or the Society of Will Writers — can be confirmed against the relevant register. Where a professional claims to hold professional indemnity insurance or a specific qualification, we expect that to be verifiable. A verified badge reflects these checks; it is not an endorsement or a guarantee of outcome.
How reviews work
Reviews are intended to reflect genuine client experiences. We take steps to identify and remove fake, incentivised or malicious reviews, and we do not allow professionals to edit or selectively delete honest feedback. Ratings are shown as they are, good and bad.
How listings and payment work
Some professionals pay for an enhanced or featured listing. Where that is the case, it is clearly marked, and it never changes a practice’s reviews, ratings or verification status. Payment can affect visibility; it cannot buy a better reputation on this site. Our guides and editorial content are written independently of any commercial relationship.
Accuracy and corrections
We work to keep information current, but details change and errors happen. If you are a professional who needs a listing corrected, or a member of the public who spots something wrong, please contact us and we will review it promptly. Our guidance is general information about the law in England and Wales, not legal advice, and we always encourage readers to confirm their own position with a qualified professional.
